Nurturing Relationships supports children and teens who are having a difficult time processing emotions, experiencing worries and anxiety, or being impacted by a family life transition.
We encourage parental/caregiver engagement in therapy so you can help implement what your child is learning into their environment.
Our clinicians are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO and will submit insurance claims on your behalf.
Attending the first session is helpful as it is where we begin to hear from multiple perspectives about what’s going on, we discuss confidentiality and what is shared/not shared, and we go over how to set goals and expectations for the child as part of the whole family.
We prioritize bringing you into the treatment process so your child can apply what they’re learning into their real-life experiences at home and in school. Having the family involved is vital to making lasting changes rather than quick fixes. What this looks like will vary case to case. Involvement is always discussed with your therapist and is dependent on your situation.
We make it as simple as possible by submitting your BCBS. PPO insurance claim on your behalf.
We do not take BCBS HMO or BCBS Choice at this time. As accessibility is one of our core values, we are working on growing our insurance network to better serve you and your family.
Informed consent is a pillar of our approach, and we want you to know exactly what to expect from Nurturing Relationships. Here’s the process of how we’ll work together:
We begin by creating a personalized treatment plan that outlines what to work on with your child and how to move forward. From the first session, we’re building a shared understanding of your goals and checking in to make sure the process stays aligned with what matters to you.
It’s all about nurturing relationships, including ours. Throughout our work, we pay close attention to the client-therapist dynamic to ensure a strong connection. We’ll have ongoing conversations about your goals, the methods we’re using, and the strength of our therapeutic bond. Your feedback and comfort are essential to the process.
Through evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), your child (and you) will gain practical skills like emotional regulation, distress tolerance, effective communication, and understanding patterns, values, and needs. These skills are practiced in session and applied in real life, helping everyone respond – rather than react – in difficult moments.
Once there’s a strong foundation of skills and regulation, we begin unpacking the deeper layers like attachment patterns, family of origin dynamics, and the emotions beneath the surface. With time, trust, and reflection, you child will develop insight into why they respond the way they do – and gain skills and techniques to address what’s within and beyond their control. We help you with this, too.
We help nurture a system for long-term progress. We’ll look into what systems we need to put in place for your family to maintain positive change with support from broader community.
