Frequently Asked Questions

When should I consider seeing a therapist?

There are many reasons to seek support. Maybe you feel a shift in your daily functioning, need help overcoming a specific difficulty, or just want to invest in your mental health. People don’t need to be “fixed or solved,” we need to be treated like humans who need support systems in place to live the best life possible.

How do I know if my partner and I need couples counseling?

We encourage you to visit this Couples Therapy blog post for more insight.

How long do I need to be in therapy to start feeling better?

Your therapist will create a treatment plan tailored to your specific goals, defining the frequency and duration. It will be a continued conversation and collaborative experience where two-way feedback evaluates and defines what is most helpful and supportive.

How can I attend my potential new client consultation or telehealth session?

Once you have completed the initial questionnaire and intake forms, you will receive an email with a link to log into SimplePractice for your scheduled consultation or telehealth session.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid the cancellation fee.

Will my sessions with your therapists be confidential?

You can find more information about confidentiality and HIPAA via our client portal, SimplePractice.

What if I need to speak with a therapist for an urgent problem?

Nurturing Relationships, PLLC, is not a crisis facility. If a true emergency situation arises, please call 911 or go to any local emergency room.

Do you take insurance other than Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO?

Not yet, but accessibility is one of our core values. We are continuously working on growing our insurance network to better serve you and your family.

How do you handle billing and insurance?

We make it as simple as possible by submitting your BCBS PPO insurance claim on your behalf.

What is the No Surprises Act?

The No Surprises Act was designed to protect uninsured and self-pay clients from unexpected medical bills. As a provision of the No Surprises Act, Nurturing Relationships will provide a Good Faith Estimate for self-pay clients to inform you of the cost of your services.

What’s the parking situation at Nurturing Relationships?

Our building is easy to find, walkable, and close to public transit. There is paid 2-hour parking out front and free 2-hour parking located a few blocks away. Once you see the Leffingwell building, enter the door on the very left and walk up the stairs to suite 2A to your right.

Does your building have stairs?

Nurturing Relationships operates out of the second floor of an older building with no elevator. We make every effort to be as accessible as possible to those who cannot use stairs, including virtual therapy and Walk and Talk therapy in the park.

What types of therapy models are offered at Nurturing Relationships?

Our therapist may use the following approaches or others in their sessions with you. Of course, we will work with you to find the best approach for your needs:

  • Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
